Reflexology

Reflexology is a relaxing therapy for activating the healing powers of the body.

About me

I am Renata, Certified Reflexologist by the holistic unique meditative program of Laura Norman method which integrates physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual aspects; addressing both acute and chronic issues and life goals.

This method is very soothing, as well as incorporating visualization, imagery, health conditions symbolisms, aromatherapy, sound therapy/music, feng shui, intuitive reflexology, and more. Rewarding the practitioner as a vessel for healing energy.

How does reflexology work?

Energy

Supports energy flow within body and between organs via electromagnetic/vibrating exchanges between body and spirit.

Lactic acid

Breaks up accumulation of micro-crystals deposited in feet, releasing resistance, allowing energy to circulate.

Proprioceptive receptors

Facilitate direct and unknown connections between parts of the feet and rest of the body

Relaxation response

Nearly 15,000 nerves in feet soothe the nervous system.

Electrical impulses

Stimulated by pressure applied to reflexes.

Autonomic Impulses

Reaches subcutaneous receptors through compression therapy on the skin.

The effectiveness of reflexology is recognized worldwide by various national health institutions and the public at large as distinct complementary practice within the holistic health field.

American Reflexology Certification Board defines Reflexology as a non-invasive complementary practice involving thumb and finger techniques to apply alternating pressure to reflexes shown on the reflex maps of the body located on the feet, hands and outer ears.

What I do
Like the feet, the face is a microcosm or mini map of the whole body. Because of its proximity to the brain, Face Reflexology can provide the most profound relaxation experience for many clients.
Like the feet, the ears are a microcosm or mini map of the whole body. proven effective for pain relief, often combined with face reflexology
Like the feet, the hands are a microcosm or mini map of the whole body. Hand Reflexology is very relaxing for them, plus it can be done anywhere. Hands are referral areas for the feet, for when a foot is injured.

Our hands help us work through our busy day, touching and manipulating, lifting and holding-they are constantly being challenged. Be careful not to take them for granted. Protect them from harsh elements, exercise them to get the best from them, relax them as a respite. Hands love being pampered, from layers of hand lotion to having a hand reflexology session.
The foot is very good at adapting itself to a set to a set of specified demands, such as walking on smooth sidewalks. However, if these demands don’t vary often enough, the feet, and subsequently the rest of the body, pay a price.

The feet are a perfect microcosm or mini map of the whole body. All the organs, glands and body parts represented in the foot are laid out in the same arrangement as in the body. Even the inside curve of the foot corresponds to the natural curves in the spine. The feet ground us, literally and figuratively. They are our contact with the earth and the energies that flow through it. They are our base and foundation. A steady foot means stability and security. Our body-and –mind know this whether we think about I consciously or not.

We walk on our soles/souls. There are some important biological and anatomical reasons for working with the feet. They are farthest from the heart, where circulation tends to stagnate. People with chronically poor circulation often have tender or swollen hand and feet. Gravity pulls toxins downward. Inorganic waste materials such as uric acid and calcium crystals can build up in the bottoms of the feet. It is good to stimulate and encourage blood flow to these extremities. Kneading the feet during reflexology breaks up the deposits and improves circulation in the feet themselves.

Many people experience tremendous daily pain in the feet, and tune it out of their conscious awareness with a neurological process known as adaptation. Yet even without awareness, constant pain takes its toll in muscle tension elsewhere in the body_ especially in the neck and shoulders and in increased fatigue and irritability. Clients express amazement at how much their feet need reflexology and how little they realized it. Reflexology is foot freedom and more.

Includes face, ears, hands and feet.

Cancer patients are increasingly turning to CAM (complimentary and alternative Medicine) to develop strategies for management of cancer care. Surveys show wide spread use of reflexology among cancer patients.

A 2002 survey of cancer patients and staff found that reflexology is among the five most popular CAM treatments for their use. A study reported in the American Cancer Society Journal (8/15/98) found that one-third of cancer patients used reflexology. Coupled with needs for care created by increasing survival rates of cancer patients is the search for therapies that avoid side effects of pharmacological therapies.

Research results show that reflexology helps cancer patients improve the management and from post-operative care to palliative care, also demonstration reflexology’s effectiveness at alleviating pain, relieving anxiety, easing nausea and more for cancer patients; they experience significant improvements in physical and emotional symptoms, being provided with help in the management of symptoms and side effects of chemotherapy and or radiation.

Response to reflexology work by cancer patients is seen in four (04) key areas: lessen pain, decrease in anxiety, reduced nausea and vomiting and improvements in various measures of quality of life.
Aromatherapy acts at different levels. There is first an allopathic action due to the chemical composition of the essential oils and their antiseptic, stimulant, calming, anti-neuralgic, or other properties. There is a more subtle action at the level of information, similar to the action of Homeopathic or Anthroposophic remedies. Last but not least, essential oils act on the mind. In fact, they are most traditionally used as basic ingredients of perfumes. Generally speaking, pleasant odors have obvious uplifting effects.

According to Marguerite Maury in The Secret of Life and Youth:
“Of the greatest interest is the effect of fragrances on the psychic and mental state of the individual. Power of perception becomes clearer and more acute, and there is a feeling of having to a certain extent, outstripped events…It might even be said that the emotional trouble which in general obscures our perception is practically suppressed.”

Oils such as neroli, lavender, marjaram, rose, and ylang and ylang have been traditionally used for their calming effects in stress reduction. Jasmine is a wonderful uplifting oil for the treatment of depression or anxiety, and there are many more. Diffusion is probably one of the best methods of using essential oils in this way.

The main therapeutic action of essential oils consist in strengthening the organs and their functions, and acting on the defense mechanisms of the body. They do not do the job for the body; they help the body do its own job and thus do not weaken the organism. Their action is enhanced by all natural therapies that aim to restore the vitality of the individual. Maurice Girault recommended using in connection with minerals, homeopathy, and psychotherapy. I would definitely add nutrition, as food is the basis of animal life; depending on its quality, food can be the best medicine or main cause of disease.
